Jason and Adam Podlaski, Original deckstool designers/founders

Broken skateboards are an unfortunate side effect of skateboarding and are usually destined for the landfill. We recycle this waste into unique, high quality furniture and other cool products. Our designs are inspired by skateboarding and they are engineered based upon how skateboards break during use. The scrapes, scars, and graffiti on the used decks create beautiful patterns over the original skateboard artwork. All of our products are built and finished by skater/craftsman in the USA.

Our recycling program collects broken boards from independent skateshops and parks in the US and Canada. By recycling broken boards with us, these small skateboard businesses can raise extra money for their shop or to fund local skatepark projects. The deckstool began when my brother Adam handed me a pile of his old, broken skateboard decks and asked me to turn them into a piece of furniture. Looking at the decks, I was inspired by the consistent way they were broken.

The longer "broken at the truck" decks seemed to be natural legs for the design and the smaller "broken in half" decks looked like they would make a good seat. After playing with these basic components for a while and incorporating an old skateboard truck to tie the pieces together, a mutant, proto-deckstool appeared. After many more broken skateboards and progressively more refined stool prototypes, the current deckstool was born.

The goal of deckstool is to support skateboarding and skate-related causes through our recycling program and continue to turn tons of trashed skatedecks into beautiful, useful products that last!
